Ms Rekha Ramcharan is a banker and lawyer. She holds the qualifications BA (Law), LLB and HDipTax and, as a lawyer, specialised in structured, project, and infrastructure finance with a specialisation in export finance.
She has served in several executive roles in retail and business banking in Tier 1 banks and is currently a non-executive director on the board of Tyme Bank Limited and Tyme Bank Holdings Limited, where she chairs the Risk, Capital Management and Credit Committee. Previously, she served on the board of Grindrod Bank Limited.
She has a deep belief that education and learning underpin any individual’s ability to offer their talents and to participate fully in the world.
Learning that allows us to become profitably employed in work that is meaningful to us opens the doors to full economic participation and real freedom. She supports animal rights, children’s rights and environmental causes, having a strong interest in issues relating to sustainability. She is a lover of reading in all its forms and will defend to her death the statement, “The book is always better than the movie.”
Ms Ramcharan joined the Trust officially in February 2024.
