MORE ABOUT US
Helping to change the lives of young black South Africans through skills development and education in the energy sector is our driving force as the Energy Mobility Education Trust. By giving our youth purpose, confidence and the chance to make a difference in their own lives, we aim to create a more equal society, contribute to economic growth, and inspire a brighter future for the young people of South Africa.
A Vision of Hope
In keeping with South Africa’s sustainable development goals, we are firmly committed to ensuring inclusive and equitable quality education and promoting lifelong learning opportunities for all. We aspire to see every black South African child achieve the very best of their potential, which is why we are passionate about giving them the opportunity to pursue higher education and formal qualifications.
By far the most persistent challenge we face as a country is the poverty trap – and the power of education lies in its ability to break this cycle once and for all. It’s for this reason we’ve designed our programmes to prepare young people for the world of work and entrepreneurship, setting them up for success along every part of their journey:
- At the high school level, we offer programmes and mentorship to help improve learners’ chances of gaining university admission.
- At the university, we offer scholarships for qualifications in STEM-based fields and provide holistic support.
- We pave the way for successful integration into the workplace through work-readiness workshops, practical tools and advice.
- Additionally, we also empower our unemployed youth through IT skills training and certification and job placements through our Youth Skills Development and People with Disabilities programmes.
In this way, we are helping to make a meaningful difference, giving our youth the tools and the education they need to transform their lives and our country for the better.

Skills Development
Our Skills Development Programmes focus on empowering young people through IT skills training and certification, giving them the ability to build a better, more meaningful life. Through our partnership with ORT SA, we identify self-motivated and high-potential black youth and equip them with basic coding and programming skills. Upon successful completion, they receive CISCO certification and are given job placement opportunities through the YES initiative.
In this way, not only is it an initiative that values education, it is one that offers practical solutions to help alleviate unemployment in South Africa.
