Dr. Sebiletso Mokone-Matabane


Dr Sebiletso Mokone-Matabane obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from the University of Syracuse, USA, a Master of Science (MSc) degree in Radio & Television from the University of Syracuse, USA, and a PhD in Educational Administration from the University of Texas, USA.

The former CEO of Sentech (Pty) Ltd, Dr Mokone-Matabane has extensive experience in the broadcasting, film, and telecommunications sectors in the USA and South Africa. Her experience while in the USA includes serving as a media specialist and instructional technology manager, executive producer and manager of a college cable television channel, as well as teaching media courses at tertiary institutions and serving as a production supervisor for public radio and a commercial television station. In South Africa, she has worked as the co-chairperson of the Independent Broadcasting Authority and project manager of the Tertiary Education Programme Support and served as a deputy chairman of UNISA Council.

Additionally, she has also acted as an advisory member of the National Research & Technology Foresight Project, has participated in the development of the South African broadcasting and telecommunications policies and regulations, and was a member of the Ministerial ICT Advisory Council and Presidential National Commission on Information Society and Development. She has also served as deputy chairman of the UNISA Council.

Dr Mokone-Matabane was appointed as a non-executive director to the board of bpSA (Pty) Ltd and currently chairs its Social, Ethics and Transformation Committee.
